Giselle Elgarresta Rios

giselle2Dr. Giselle Elgarresta Rios is an accomplished choral conductor, a vocal and choral consultant, professor and soprano who has an extensive repertoire of services in conducting, consulting, lecturing and singing in a range of diverse international and national venues.

She made her debut as the first Cuban-American woman to conduct in Carnegie Hall. She has been consulting with the Disney organization to adjudicate choruses from around the nation, including Puerto Rico. In addition she has provided vocal and choral workshops in schools throughout South Florida.

In addition, Giselle is an Associate Professor of Music and the Coordinator of the Music Program at Barry University, Miami, Florida; where she also directs the Barry University Chamber Ensemble. As a visiting Professor she taught at Music Institute of Pontificie Catholic University of Santiago, Chile; where she worked in the International Course of Repertoire and Choral studies.

At Barry University Dr. Rios has been active in many committees in the Fine Arts Department, Faculty Evaluation committee, Co-Chaired the Communication and Technology Committee, and was an elected member of Faculty Senate for the School of Arts and Sciences. She was selected as a member of the prestigious Iron Arrow Honor Society, (, and is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, College Music Society, National Association of Teachers of Singing, and Music Educators National Conference.
